Does your Pinterest business account have rich pins?  If not, it should. Think of them as the premium version of Pinterest’s personal pins.  Statistics show that rich pins get more traffic, conversions, transactions, and revenue.

Rich Pins show metadata right on the Pin itself, giving Pinners a richer experience and increasing engagement. Information in a Rich Pin is independent of the Pin description, ensuring that important information is always tied to the Pin. There are 4 types of Rich Pins: app, article, product and recipe Pins. ~Pinterest

The screenshot above is an article rich pin.  It includes my business name, a “Visit” tab that is linked directly to my post, a place for comments, and a description with hashtags.  Visitors can send the post to someone on their list or save it to pin on their own boards.  My avatar is included to help brand recognition.

To convert regular pins to rich pins, you must have a business account.  Convert your current personal Pinterest account to a business account. 

The next step is to verify your website with Pinterest.  WordPress makes this super-simple with a plugin called, AccessPress Pinterest.  You’ll also need to have the Yoast SEO plugin installed.  In your dashboard, hover over SEO and click on Social.  Click on the Facebook tab and make sure the Facebook settings are enabled.  Go to https://developers.pinterest.com/tools/url-debugger Enter the URL to any of your posts and click the Validate button.   When you see the green check mark, you’re all set.  All future Pinterest posts will automatically be set up as rich pins on your business account.

Don’t have a WordPress site?  No worries.  You’ll just need to add some metadata to your site.

Pinterest rich pins add value, brand recognition, and search engine optimization.  Be careful, though.  Pinterest can be a very fun addiction.

One of the reasons people have for not implementing a successful Pinterest marketing strategy is lack of time.  I get that.  As a Realtor®, your time is better spent selling property.  However, in just a few minutes a day, you can get amazing results.

Set aside a few minutes each day to implement these Pinterest tasks.

• Repinning – Add your niche keywords to the Pinterest search field.  As you do, Pinterest will give you suggestions for other related searches.  Click on any of the recommended search results.  This will bring up a large variety of boards.  Browse the boards and re-pin the ones you like.

• Auto Post Pins – Since you have a life, you won’t be able to work on your Pinterest account every day.  Set up an account with a social media hub like HootSuite or Buffer.  Then, once a week, you can schedule automatic pins.

• Follow Your Niche – Take about 5 minutes each day to follow other people in your niche market.  A word of caution…Make sure you check out their profile and pins before following them.  Remember that you don’t have any control over what they’re pinning.

• Be Sociable – Just like any other social media platform, you should take a few minutes a day to comment on other people’s pins.  This builds relationships and establishes a common ground.

• Add Pins – You probably run across many photos every day that you really like.  Perhaps you take your own.  Add at least one photo to your board every day.  A great way to build your online presence is to optimize the pin and add a link back to your website or blog post.

• Analyze Your Results – Pinterest provides their own analytics.  Take a look at them at least once a week.  You’ll be able to see your daily average impressions and viewers.  You’ll also be able to see how people are engaging with your pins.  This information lets you know what people are most interested in.
