<p>LinkedIn is so much more than another way to put your profile online. It&#8217;s designed to help businesses and individuals generate leads and enhance networking opportunities.  More leads can translate into sales.</p>



<p>Here are four ways I use LinkedIn to help promote brand awareness and leads.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Prepare <g class="gr_ gr_9 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Grammar multiReplace" id="9" data-gr-id="9">Your</g> Company Profile</h2>



<p>It would be a shame if a prospective client found your LinkedIn profile only to be disappointed by its content or lack thereof. Add a professional photo of yourself.  Then, make sure your company profile, biography, and contact information is up-to-date.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Look for Potential Leads</h2>



<p>Use LinkedIn&#8217;s convenient search boxes at the top of the website to pour over the over millions of members for relevant contacts. The advanced search feature available with premium memberships will allow you to search based on job title, company, seniority level, and more to create a highly targeted list of prospects. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Customize Your Connection Requests</h2>



<p>After identifying your prospects, send them a personalized connection request.  The generic, &#8220;<em>I&#8217;d like to add you to my professional network on LinkedIn&#8221;</em>, will garner connections.  A more personalized approach is more interesting and will result in a better response. Let them know how you know them, what you have in common or what you find interesting about them.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Create You Follow Up <g class="gr_ gr_23 gr-alert gr_spell gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim ContextualSpelling ins-del multiReplace" id="23" data-gr-id="23">Strategy</g></h2>



<p>After your connection invitation has been accepted, one of two things will happen. Either the new connection will reach out to you and express an interest in learning more about your company, or they will wait for you to reach out.  </p>



<p>If you&#8217;re reaching out to past, current or prospective clients, have a strategy in place.  Decide how you&#8217;re going to follow up with them; time, kind of follow-up, offer, etc.   </p>



<p>You can never have too many ways of generating new leads. By including LinkedIn in your strategy, you can diversify your customer base and build healthy customer relationships for years to come.</p>

<li><strong>Strut Your Stuff &#8211; </strong>Not in a bragging sort of way, of course.  Participate in groups.  Share your knowledge and expertise.  Attend live events and webinars and share what you&#8217;ve learned with your connections.</li>

<li><strong>Be the Expert &#8211; </strong>Go to LinkedIn often and add an update.  Set your posts to &#8220;public&#8221; so everyone can see what you have posted.</li>

<li><strong>Blog Shares &#8211; </strong>After writing a blog post, share it on your LinkedIn profile. If you&#8217;re very ambitious, write a separate post targeted to your ideal audience.  Add links that lead your readers to an appropriate web page or landing page on your site.</li>

<li><strong>Join Your People &#8211; </strong>Look for groups that consist of your target audience.  Join only groups that you will have time to participate in.  Remember&#8230;<strong>socia</strong><strong>l media is a contact sport</strong>.  Lurkers need not apply.  By participating in conversations, you are able to keep your name foremost in the group.</li>

<li><strong>Update Often &#8211; </strong>To promote yourself without spamming, stay active.  Post an image or publish an update to your profile.  Promoting yourself on LinkedIn can be tricky.  Adding an update about &#8220;<em>Maplegrove Gets New Neighbors</em>&#8220;, is a great way to let people know you&#8217;ve sold their home without sounding spammy.</li>
